Troy Nahumko is an award-winning author based in Caceres, Spain. His recent work focuses on travels around the Mediterranean, from Tangier to Istanbul. His book, Stories Left in Stone, Trails and Traces in Cáceres, Spain is published by the University of Alberta Press. Spring's Here, or At Least the Storks Are...

This winter has been rotten, plain rotten. Rain can be a godsend in countries susceptible to drought like Spain, but enough already!

Though Spring certainly doesn't seem to be springing with any kind of force, let's hope that the storks bring some good weather with them.

I remember the storks from when I lived in Salamanca.

And one January morning in Seville I saw a huge flock of them migrating north - right over my head as I hung up my laundry on the roof. About forty of them flew right over me and then "took a left" at a nearby church steeple. It was amazing.
